A woman was being positive for Covid-19 for test done in a hospital when she was discharging. Day after around 80 has been positive for the test and as it for now more than 600 individuals been tested positive. Majority has been positive from the workers who has been working in the garment. Woman's daughter also has been testes positive. As a result, over large number of students has been sent into quarantine.
As most of the work force has been coming from various parts of the country, the case seems to be serious.
At the start government has imposed curfew for three divisions in Gampaha and gave holiday for all the schools.
Today officially government has asked to prevent any public gathering to control the spreading. The day time government imposed curfew for Gampaha and in the evening it was withdrawn and reduced to previous 3 divisions.
Incident happened along with US President being tested positive with her wife, first lady Melania Trump. Also at the same time, Sri Lanka Government is looking to take controversial 20th amendment to parliament. It's questionable, the state of the government to go for a complete lock down as people and GOSL has the scale to face such a challenge. Inevitably, people has a major responsibility to take care for them as historically its not wise to depend on GOSL administration.
